It’s American Express restaurant month in Auckland and SOUL at the Viaduct brings some bohemian extravagance.
The 2018 James Beard Best Chef South Winner, Nina Compton, takes over the SOUL kitchen on Thursday August 23rd and the menu will feature a NOLA limited edition menu inspired by the colours, textures, flavours and food trends of New Orleans. NOLA will continue for the whole month of August.
In 2017, Nina was also named as one of the best new chefs in the USA by Food and Wine Magazine. She owns restaurants Compere Lapin and Bywater American Bistro in New Orleans.
SOUL Bar & Bistro — famous for turning meals into memories and featuring exciting guest chefs — is celebrating American Express Restaurant Month in Auckland with a medley of Southern deliciousness finishing with an Oh La La NOLA themed edition of the (in)famous SOUL Punch event on Sunday August 26th.
SOUL goes NOLA restaurant month menu – August 2018
The SOUL team visited New Orleans earlier this year to research culinary trends. The result — a taste of the flavours and textures of New Orleans prepared with local New Zealand produce This limited edition menu ($40 for 2-course, $50 for 3-course and a supplement of $18 for a Church Road wine pairing) will only be available for lunch and dinner during the month of August.
Nina Compton goes SOUL – Dinner 23 August
To top it all off, chef Nina Compton will take over the SOUL kitchen for a night on August 23rd. She brings the best of her signature restaurants to the SOUL kitchen for this exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime collaboration. For one dinner only, Nina and SOUL chef Gavin Doyle will co-create a beautiful culinary medley featuring the best of New Orleans and New Zealand. This menu will include canapés, a welcome drink, a five course family-style dinner with matching Church Road wines and San Pellegrino water ($195,- per person). There is limited seating as this exclusive experience will be available on August 23 only.
SOUL PUNCH Oh La La NOLA Edition
On Sunday 26th August, an extra edition will be added to the (in)famous SOUL PUNCH events that turn Auckland’s Sundays into ‘Sindays’. From noon, SOUL will put the party in your Sunday lunch (PUNCH) New Orleans-style, with an afternoon of food, drinks and music. Grab your dancing shoes and beads ready as this is going to be one for the books.
